How often do you use your dining room? If you live in an open-concept home, chances are that you use it on a daily basis, but if you have a formal dining room you probably use it mostly during special occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Today I am sharing Sarah’s dining room, from Dreaming of Homemaking, with tips on how to get your farmhouse dining room ready for Fall and the approaching Holidays.
Farmhouse Dining Room Fall Decor Ideas
The first rule to get your dining room ready for the holidays is to ensure that you have enough space for your guests. Make sure to shop for dining room furniture that coordinates with the rest of your room because nothing is more unattractive than having to run to the basement to get an old chair and offer it your guest to sit. The white paint color used here is Sherwin Williams Pure White SW 7005.
The table and chairs are Ikea ( Ingatorp table and Engolf chairs).
My wooden chandelier is from @antiquefarmhouse.
The “Love is Patient” sign (next to fireplace) is from @betweenyouandmesigns.
The sign above the mantle is from @heather.thewhitefarmhouse.
Fall Transformation
Just about every night, this dining room serves as the family’s gathering spot for comfort food and catch-up time with Sarah’s four little kids. When the holiday season gets closer, Sarah accentuates her farmhouse dining room with some eye-catching decor.
The grey wall color is Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray and her jute rug is the Continental Rug from @boutiquerugs.
Farmhouse Fall Tablescape
With a few key upgrades, Sarah’s dining room is ready to impress her holiday guests. The tablescape is full of pumpkins from Michael’s – there are spindles mixed with berries (from @purplerosehome), and the greenery is from @hobbylobby. The wooden table runner on top of the burlap is from @Simplyinspiredshop.
The sign on the shelves is from @woodandwhiteco.
Neutral Textures
We often see a lot of strong colors such as orange and browns during this time of the year but a neutral dining room tend to feel calmer and more soothing. This year, try to play with different textures instead of bringing too much color.
The Joshua sign (above window) is from @betweenyouandmesigns.
Family Memories
There’s nothing more uninviting than a ethereal home and for me, farmhouse-inspired homes are just the opposite to that. This dining room not only feels inviting but it also feels approachable, so much so that you can almost smell the turkey!
Napkins on the table are @porterlanehome.

Wasn’t it wonderful to see Sarah’s dining room? She is very talented and her home feels so warm and inviting.
I hope you guys are having a wonderful day and are getting ready for this magical time of the year. The weather is starting to cool down and the leaves are changing their colors slowly. My favorite thing to do at this time is to get a good book, a warm throw and stay quiet for a few hours, just contemplating the calmness of the season.
Have a Blessed week, my friends. We’ll talk tomorrow!
with Love,
