Palma Plaza Spec in Texas: A Modern Home with Peaked Roof

Most of the time, you will think that modern homes have flat roofs, shed roof or a roof deck. But if you browse into modern home designs, you will realize that it is not always the case.

If you think that peaked roofs won’t work for modern houses, you are wrong!

Do you want to see a proof that this classic roof design still looks good for the home?

Well, you have to take a look at the house that we will feature today. It is called the Palma Plaza Spec located in Austin, Texas.

The home is located on a residential street and was originally built as a spec house. But it was later on bought by the neighbors from down the street while on its mid-construction.

After the purchase, the new owners upgraded the home’s interior finishes. As for the exterior, it featured limestone, wood, and stucco.

The house has a seamless connection to the outdoors using pocket yards. These openings are adjacent to the interior rooms to blend a unique indoor and outdoor living experience on an urban property.

So, what are you waiting for?

The residence is located on a quiet residential street in Clarksville. It takes inspiration from the forms of the existing houses around. But the design has a modern feel by using a modern material palette, expansive glass, spacious rooms and clean, minimalist interior selections.

There is a large matte black pivoting front door that welcomes guests to the home. This door is surrounded by windows that let natural light shine into the home.

This is the living area which is just small and simple. Even their choice of furniture is simple but it is stylish at the same time. The area is defined with an area rug. Love the abstract paintings on the wall too!

Next to the living room is the dining area. Everything in the interior is in one space because of its open layout. The living space has a window that wraps around the corner of the room.

The kitchen is the first area that guest can approach from the foyer. It has a large white island with seating and it has plenty of room for guests to sit and chat. It also features a pantry that is hidden beside the fridge.

Palma Plaza Spec master bedroom

The master bedroom has a simple modern design. It looks out onto the outdoor entertaining space which is connected to the living areas. Because of its floor-to-ceiling windows and vaulted ceiling, it is filled with natural light.

The master bathroom has large white tiles that cover the walls. There is also a standalone bathtub that sits between the double-sink vanity and the large walk-in shower with glass surround.

The home also has a smaller bathroom that’s located near the front door and a home office. It features a floating vanity and white tiles for the flooring and shower walls.

Another look at the architecture of the house. The house made use a combination of black and white colors. The exterior is also covered with stone and wood. One thing I like here is the pavement that leads to the garage.

Palma Plaza Spec plan

Seen here is the site plan of the home where we can also see the interior layout. This gives us the idea of how the house can be accessed from the different areas.

Architecture and interior design firm Dick Clark + Associates worked with Vinson Radke Homes to complete this home. The result of their work is very impressive from the exterior to the interior. It is definitely a home that we would love to live in because of its design. Also, we assume the location is in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. The peaked roof design is actually an influence of the homes around it. Would you like to get a house with a design similar to this?
