Sunny skies and warm temperatures soon will be luring you to the great outdoors. If you’re planning on entertaining, lounging or eating outside, you may want to rethink your backyard. If you’re working with limited space or not, you can always create a garden oasis with the dimensions that you already own.
1. Color Scheme

Looking to give your tired outdoor patio or terrace a fresh facelift, but you want to stay within the same parameters of your current household style and theme? Choosing a monochromatic color scheme offers up a polished appearance without going overboard. Start with essential furnishings such as an umbrella, table, chairs, and loungers in contemporary shades of white and gray. If you’re into other neutral colors, warm hues of beige and tan can boost your patio’s appearance without a lot of drastic changes. Choosing teak dining sets, like the ones we see above, can not only offer you plenty of comfort but also many years of usage due their long durability.
2. Garden Entertaining

Garden greenery starts with a well-tended lawn. If you’re planning to do a lot of entertaining and dining alfresco, a lawn specialist provides tailored yard care so your yard can grow and flourish. Another great idea for when you want to spend time outdoors and escape your normal routine, is to choose your outdoor style wisely.
If your home and outdoor furnishings are vulnerable to the elements, weather-resistant tables, chairs and umbrellas (think Teak furniture!) provide the right coverage. Because they are made to withstand rain, sun, and wind exposure, you don’t have to worry about the pieces chipping, fading, or peeling.
3. Basic Charm Without Borders

You can add patio walls to create an intimate outdoor setting. If you’re limited on space, you can partition a section of your patio using a small table, chairs, chaise loungers, or a sofa. You can also put up a small privacy fence to keep your outdoor quarters cozy. Before you begin to purchase pieces and start building, plan out your decorating space.
4. Comfortable Yet Stylish

You don’t have to sacrifice comfort for something stylish. If you want to decorate your patio, set out a few pieces that look nice, and they’re comfy to lounge in. A Teak love seat or sofa with cushions, like we see above, are ideal if you want to use the space to relax. Add an outdoor Teak coffee table, potted plant and lantern to finish setting the mood when you entertain.
5. Opt for Tiny Accessories

Adding character to an outdoor terrace is easy when you’re mindful of your space. If you’re looking for a spot to set a potted plant or a cup of tea, opt for a small Teak table. You can also decorate using smaller vases, pillows, and throw rugs throughout your outdoor living space.
6. Plant Vertical Greenery
(Image: Haver & Skolnick LLC Architects).
Flowers, plants, herbs and other greenery can boost the mood of your patio, terrace or your backyard. The live vegetation can also breathe new life into a dated fence. Using small container boxes and cans that have been spray painted, you can build your backyard garden into a vertical masterpiece. The herbs will also come in handy when adding flavor to your favorite meals. Before you make your selection at the local nursery, determine the best types of flowers and plants for your lighting.
7. Make Your Space Functional
(Image: Haver & Skolnick LLC Architects).
Overcrowding your patio with tables, chairs, and accessories can make your space look claustrophobic. Your guests may even find it a challenge to secure a spot to sit down. If you’re looking to decorate, make sure the furnishing that you select are functional. A work bench can be used to store knick-knacks, plants, and firewood. When you’re entertaining, it could also act as a buffet table where you serve food and beverages.
By using the above ideas, you’ll be able to take in the fresh air and make the most out of your patio or outdoor terrace during the approaching warm moths.
You can find many of the Teak furniture we see in this post, including the Teak bench above, at Goldenteak.
