Designed by Maureen Ursino of Ursino Interiors (recently featured here), this project was a full gut renovation of a 1960’s ranch in Holmdel, NJ. The project was split into two phases, the first was a complete redesign and reconfiguration to create a functional, open, and airy home. The house was taken down to the studs and the only thing that remained in its original place were the bedrooms. The second phase is currently underway to furnish the home. Phase 2 is expected to be completed this spring.

Home Renovation

Kitchen Before:

The kitchen felt very closed-in and completely separated from the rest of the house.

I am sure this kitchen had many sweet memories.

Kitchen After:

Rearranging mostly of the main floor, allowed the designer to add an open-concept kitchen with crisp white cabinets and a large kitchen island.

Kitchen Cabinet: Solid maple inset Cabinetry.

Countertop is Quartz, Calacatta.

Lighting: Rejuvenation – Matte Black.

Kitchen Faucet: Signature Hardware, Polished Nickel.

Kitchen Island Dimension: 3.5’ x 8’

Backsplash

Backsplash  Ceramic White Subway Tile, 3 x 12.

Kitchen Pot Filler: Signature Hardware.

Kitchen Pulls: Rejuvenation “Mission” pull, polished nickel. Knobs: Rejuvenation “Sommerville” knob, polished nickel.

Paint Color

Walls and trim are Benjamin Moore OC-65 Chantilly Lace – this is a white paint color that I often recommend.

Ceiling & Flooring

Main flooring is 7 1/2 “ European Oak Hard-Wax Oil – similar here, here & here.

Ceiling is tongue and groove with beams painted in Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace.

An archway leads to the dining room.

The dining room now opens to the family room.

Dining Pendant: “Line Wave 2” Linear Pendant, Aged Brass.

I’ll be honest with you guys, you won’t hear me say anything bad about older homes because I’m sure this place was once very loved and I feel I need to respect that.

The new family room is located between the kitchen (on left), the dining room (ahead on left) and foyer, on far right.

Furnishings: The designer is currently working on the furnishing phase of the project and expect to be finished this spring.

Paint Color

Grid Board and Batten Fireplace Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist.

Stone is Natural Slate.

Master Bathroom

The master bathroom was also a gut-renovation and now features a more practical layout.

Vanity is custom-made and countertop is Quartz, Calacatta.

Flooring: Cement Tile Shop “Bouquet II”.

Faucet: Kohler Purist Collection, Polished Chrome.

Towel Ring: Kohler.

Hardware: Baldwin Ring Pull, Polished Chrome.

Powder room

Also completely renovated, the powder room features a custom vanity and brass accents.

Flooring: Ceramic Penny Rounds, White.

Sink & Faucet

Faucet: Kohler Purist Collection, Brush Gold.

Vanity is painted Benjamin Moore 2041-10 Hunter Green.

Laundry Room

This bright and practical laundry room features natural Slate countertop and herringbone floor tile. Interior doors are Benjamin Moore Classic Gray.

Lighting: Feiss.

Mudroom Flooring

By changing the layout of the house, the new homeowner can enjoy of a large and very bright mudroom with a huge custom bench! What a dream!
